Starting a Lacrosse Team means helping our girls” prepare for the future !

The Texas Girls High School League is ready to welcome you to the only organization dedicated solely to advancing “Girls High School Lacrosse” in Texas and Louisiana.

We stand ready to help on the local level when you are ready to begin the rewarding adventure that is starting a girl’s high school lacrosse team. The team can be a school venture or a club structure anywhere in Texas or Louisiana.

The league is divided into three districts. The North District covers the Dallas, Fort Worth, and Shreveport LA. Areas. The Central District covers the Austin and San Antonio areas. The South District covers Houston and surrounding area. Each District has teams consisting of DI & DII (Varsity) and JV (Junior Varsity) squads.

Any of our three district coordinators are a great starting point to begin your journey in lacrosse. They can direct you to resources where, you can see the game and talk to others who have done remarkable jobs starting teams.

US Lacrosse can help. The New Start Program is a developmental assistance program for first year women's lacrosse teams. The program offers a package of information including:

  • The New Start Manual - a comprehensive guide on what it takes to get a lacrosse program started from information about recruiting coaches and officials to fundraising tips and more.
  • A CD of helpful documents such as a lacrosse Power Point presentation to show your school or community administrator.
  • The 10-minute promotional video "This is Lacrosse"
  • An official men's or women's lacrosse rulebook
  • A sample copy of the Parents' Guide to the Sport of Lacrosse
  • Sample issues of Lacrosse Magazine
  • A one-time discount on equipment through participating manufacturers (manufacturers contact information is listed in the New Start Manual.)
